The widow of the firefighter killed in a gas explosion in Sun Prairie is filing a lawsuit against the companies believed to have caused the blast.
TODAY'S TMJ4 obtained three civil lawsuits filed on Thursday against four companies that were involved in the construction project that caused the blast that killed Fire Capt. Cory Barr.
The companies are VC Tech, Bear Communications, USIC Locating Services and WEC Energy Group doing business as We Energies.
Barr was killed when the blast destroyed the bar that he owned, along with five other businesses on July 10 of this year.
His widow, Abby Barr, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
Two other firefighters, Ryan Welch and Greg Pavlik, have filed personal injury lawsuits. They were both injured in the explosion.
The Sun Prairie chief of police Patrick Anhalt announced earlier in the day Thursday that criminal charges would not be filed against the people involved.
