WAUWATOSA — Steinkellner Paint & Decorating at 8838 W. North Ave., has been serving the community, when it comes to home improvements, since 1969.

Ron Delforge, who owns the business, had no idea what the pandemic would bring.

"We didn't know what to expect. We kind of forecasted some doom and gloom, but to the contrary, it worked out quite well. My son and I kept the store open through the whole thing. It was unbelievable," he says. "The number of local people that came in and were so glad and happy that we were here and supportive, it made you feel good and tingly"

Ron has been working in this store for 45 years, which has a great reputation in the community for what they do. They do a lot of specialty work, which Ron is pretty proud of.

"We do custom paint matches and a lot of custom stain matches, a lot of old-time '50s 30's woodwork people don't want to touch it, people don't want to mess around with it. We have a reputation. My business partner Maureen has taken it to another level," he says.

People come in and ask for her to do it. They're a full-service store.

"We provide everything you need, from the paint, to the paintbrushes, the rollers, to how to hand the wallpaper. Get you a paperhanger to hang the wallpaper, get you a painter to paint your house. If you don't want to, as I always tell everybody, if we don't have it, you don't need it, and we like to stick with that. We will go that extra mile. We will research and try to find stuff that we don't have just to make the customer happy," Ron says.
