We're Open: Public Table looks to recapture momentum

Opened just 18 months before pandemic

WEST ALLIS — The wait is over for the Public Table on National Avenue in West Allis. They opened on Wednesday for the first time since the pandemic hit.

"We were open for about 18 months prior to the shutdown," co-owner Christopher Kuranz said. "And we were really starting to build some really good momentum with the press and everything else. Ninety percent of all restaurants fail their first year and to be hit with this and try to build a following and business? It's very difficult."

The owners of Public Table are taking extra safety precautions to keep staff and customers healthy.

To help keep patrons healthy, the staff will give all customers hot towels when they enter the restaurant.

"When you come to the public table we're going to give you our signature hot towel," co-owner Randy Brashier said. "And this a sanitized water with a just a little bit of peppermint oil and simply we'll drop that at the table."

The co-owners said the duck flatbread is the hottest item on the menu.
