TOWN OF VINLAND, Wis. -- An Appleton man was killed after his ultralight aircraft crashed in Winnebago County Tuesday morning.
The crash happened on CTH G and CTH T in the Town of Vinland.
The 68-year-old pilot was the only one inside, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office said.
Neighbors told NBC26 they have not been able to get the image of the crash out of their minds.
The woman who first called 911 said it's a reminder of how quickly life can change.
"Sometimes, we take life for granted," said Karen Brazee. "The poor guy was probably thinking it was a beautiful day to go for a ride and unfortunately, he died."
Because an ultralight is technically an aircraft, not a plane, the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office is investigating. The FAA and NTSB are not involved.
The cause of the crash has not been determined.
