MADISON — The University of Wisconsin-Madison has a confirmed case of coronavirus.

In an email sent to students Friday, the university said the employee works in UW's School of Veterinary Medicine building. The employee recently traveled to a country with widespread transmission of coronavirus, and will remain at home until authorized by Public Health to return to normal activities.

Non-essential employees at the Veterinary Medicine building are being told to go home Friday and to monitor themselves for symptoms.

The university says officials are fully cooperating with Public Health Madison & Dane County, as well as other public health agencies, to determine what ongoing actions may need to be taken.
