170 puppies rescued from Iowa puppy mill

Posted

OMAHA, Neb -- Just a few weeks ago, 170 puppies were rescued from a puppy mill in northern Iowa and now ten of them are starting new lives in Nebraska.

According to our partners at WISC-TV, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said the dogs were kept in kennels that didn't provide much shelter from the environment and did not have access to clean water.

The 170 puppies were taken in by shelters in Iowa, Kansas and by the Nebraska Humane Society.

Currently, the Samoyeds (in the photo above) are being evaluated and won't be up for adoption for several weeks. The Nebraska Humane Society is taking time to "asses their medical needs."

Animal neglect charges are pending against the owner.
