PEWAUKEE — The 21-year-old woman who hit a local police sergeant while driving drunk has been sentenced to 30 days in jail, according to court records.
Pewaukee Police Sgt. Nicholas Welch was traveling west on Capitol Drive around 1:30 a.m. in late July when Samantha Sabol ignored a flashing yellow arrow, crashing into his squad car while turning.
Sabol and the officer were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the criminal complaint, Sabol told investigators that she drank three White Claws at a friend's house, consuming intoxicants until about 45 minutes before the crash.
She said she called her mother for a ride home, but when she didn't answer, Sabol decided to drive. She told investigators numerous times she should not have been driving.
This was Sabol's first Operating while Intoxicated conviction.
