WAUKESHA — The Wisconsin State Patrol announced the unexpected passing of one of their own: K-9 Mater.
K-9 Mater died on Aug. 14. Wisconsin State Patrol says he was 9-years-old.
"We salute K-9 Mater for his dedicated service to the state of Wisconsin. He will be deeply missed by his family and the communities he served for 8 years," State Patrol tweeted.
Mater joined State Patrol in 2012 and was assigned to the Southeast Region - Waukesha Post.
In his career, Wisconsin State Patrol says Mater was responsible for the seizure of over 1,000 pounds of marijuana, over 10 pounds of cocaine, over five pounds of heroin, two pounds of meth and over 100 firearms.
