FOX CROSSING, WI--A man has been charged with a 2008 sexual assault after the sexual assault test kit was finally processed, according to a press release.

Aaron J Heiden, 29, of Eau Claire was charged with two felony counts of sexual assault of a woman. He was arrested by the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.

This is the first prosecution filed by Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel on behalf of the DOJ that resulted from the Wisconsin Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (WiSAKI).

"WiSAKI is a statewide effort to address the decades-old accumulation of previously unsubmitted sexual assault kits that were in the possession of local law enforcement agencies and hospitals," said the news release.

Any victim of sexual assault who does not know the status of their sexual assault kit can call 1-800-446-6564 or visit ByYourSide.org online.
