Wisconsin Lutheran HS basketball player on mend after collapsing on court

MENOMONEE FALLS — A high school basketball player is speaking out a day after he collapsed on the court during a game.

Jordan Glenn, a Junior Guard Wisconsin Lutheran High School saw his chances of survival greatly improve thanks to people in a crowd that sprang into action.

It all happened during a game between Menomonee Falls and Wisconsin Lutheran High School on Saturday. Inside the gym, the sounds of basketball, until...

“Dead silence,” said Kezza Frye, who attended Saturday’s game.

Minutes into the first quarter, the air was sucked out of the room, Glenn fell to the floor.

“I went down a few stairs thinking, ‘Is he having a seizure?’ Then someone said ‘he’s having a seizure.’ So, I darted down there to be at his side,” Frye recalled.

Frye, the wife of a Menomonee Falls coach, is also a nurse practitioner. She and several other parents with medical expertise jumped into action.

“His lips were starting to turn blue and his breathing was not what it was supposed to be,” Frye said.

Frye said Glenn’s vitals were fading fast, as the team of parents tried to revive him. An on-site AED someone grabbed eventually told Frye that Glenn would need more than CPR, he would need a shock.

That shock gave Glenn a pulse again. it saved his life. all within 15 minutes Frye said felt like hours.

“It just came together perfectly,” Frye said.

On social media came an outpouring of support from local basketball teams wishing Glenn’s recovery.

They got their wish...

“Before the game, I was feeling okay. Warm ups. Fine. Got the ball. Scored,” Glenn recounted, as he recovered at Children’s Hospital.

He sad he felt fine Saturday, and suddenly, he was lying on the court, surrounded by people trying to help.

“Did you have a thought?” TMJ4 News asked.

“I thought I was gonna die,” he responded.

His mother Carlissa sat bedside. She said she is thankful for another day with her son.

“There was a doctor here that said those were crucial moments,” Carlissa Glenn said.

It remains unclear why Glenn fainted during Saturday's game. However, he remains thankful for people, from both sides of the game who joined forces, forming the ultimate team; working to save his life.

“I really appreciate that because if they didn’t I wouldn't be here today,” Jordan Glenn said.
