MILWAUKEE — The White House Chief of Staff has suggested federal officials could come to Milwaukee to combat civil unrest.

On Sunday during an interview on Fox News, Mark Meadows said the Trump administration could send federal officials to Milwaukee among other cities to keep "our communities safe."

"Whether it's Chicago or Portland or Milwaukee, someplace across the heartland of the country, we need to make sure their communities are safe," Meadows said during a Fox News interview.

The Chief of Staff said that the administration is working closely with Attorney General William Barr and that there could be orders as soon as this week to send agents to cities across the country, including Milwaukee.
