If you are stressing about finding a tax preparer and struggling to find the money to pay, check out the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program or VITA.

The IRS and Wisconsin's Department of Revenue train volunteers to prepare your income tax returns at no cost to you. But, not everyone qualifies for help.

Individuals who can take part in the program include those with a low to moderate-income, individuals with disabilities, non-English speakers and military personnel.

Seniors can look into a program called tax counseling for the elderly or TCE. The tax help happens at community centers, libraries, churches or schools all over our area.

In some cases, you need an appointment. Click here to find a VITA or TCE location closest to you.
