West Bend Common Council narrowly approves chicken proposal

West Bend residents will soon be able to raise their own chickens under a new proposal approved by the common council Monday night.

The vote was tied among aldermen 4-4 and the mayor broke the tie in favor of the measure.

Families can keep up to four chickens under the measure for their own use.

While it was approved, the ordinance has not gone into effect just yet. The council will meet in the next two weeks to to decide that.
