MADISON — The UW Marching Band will not be playing at any Badger games this season, as with any band in the Big Ten.
The conference ruled Thursday that it does reserve the right to revisit the issue later this season.
As of Sept. 23, UW band members were cleared to return to in-person learning, according to the university.
A spokesperson tells TMJ4 that members of the band will hold practices.
"Performing for the Badger Faithful in the greatest venue in all of college football is an honor and privilege that we do not take lightly. We look forward to a time where we can suit up and perform in support of our team and great institution," according to a statement from the university.
“While performing for football games is extremely important, this band program is more than that. We acknowledge the difficulties that have been placed upon us a result of COVID-19; however, we will operate under the current guidelines to the best of our ability," according to the statement.
