Two teens arrested for Riverwest carjacking

Two teens are in custody, including a convicted felon, in connection with a carjacking Saturday in Milwaukee's Riverwest neighborhood.

Police say two individuals approached a 57-year-old male at about 5:15 p.m. in the 2600 block of N. Bremen Street, pointed a gun at him, demanded his car keys and fled in the victim's Kia Sportage.

Police spotted the vehicle an hour later in the 3300 block of N. 27th Street and a chase ensued after the driver refused to stop.

  • The passenger, a 17-year-old male, exited the vehicle and was apprehended. Police say the 18-year-old driver was arrested after eventually stopping the vehicle and trying to run away.

    The teens face potential charges of armed robbery, fleeing an officer, resisting an officer and driving/operating a vehicle without owner's consent.

    Police say the 18-year-old suspect has an arrest record dating back to 2013 and is a convicted felon.
