MILWAUKEE — While attempting to escape, a suspect driving in a car dragged two police officers over the road, who were trying to apprehend the person, Wednesday afternoon.

The two officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

MPD says officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash around 3:17 p.m. in the 1400 block of West Center Street. There, officers noticed a person trying to flee on foot from one of the wrecked vehicles.

The suspect entered another vehicle and began driving off - dragging the two officers who had grappled onto the vehicle, to try to apprehend the suspect, MPD says.

The officers injured are a 25-year-old man with over seven years of experience, and a 30-year-old with over three years of experience.

The vehicle that was left at the scene of the crash was reported stolen.
