BROOKFIELD — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources recently stocked Fox Brook Park with 3,500 trout as part of the Urban Fishing Program.

The Waukesha County Park System has four parks that participate in the program: Fox Brook, Menomonee, Minooka and Muskego.

This cooperative makes fishing opportunities more readily available and encourages more people, especially youngsters, to go fishing.

The trout stocked at Fox Brook Park are 1-year-old yearlings from a fishery in Eagle.

The restricted fishing season ends April 26. During the restricted season, fishing is allowed only for people under 16 years old or those with a disabled persons’ fishing license.

Free kids fishing clinics are scheduled April 13 at the Fox Brook, Menomonee and Muskego parks.

The regular fishing season starts on the first Saturday of May every year. During the regular season, everyone must have a Wisconsin fishing license. An Inland Trout Stamp also is required to fish for or possess trout.
