THIENSVILLE — The building that housed the beloved Thiensville restaurant, the Cheel, is scheduled to be demolished after a fire tore through the structure last November, leaving its employees without work and customers devastated.

The owners of Cheel wrote on social media Friday that the demolition of the building is scheduled for next Wednesday, Jan. 13, starting around 8:30 a.m. They said the demolition will start with the building's steeple. The structure is over 130 years old, the owners said.

"This will be a sad day for our Village, but we look forward to the next phase in our lives and cannot wait to share with you the plans for the rebuild. Thank you for all your support, and we wish you a Happy 2021! Namaste…for now!" according to their Facebook page.

A fundraiserfor the restaurant raised over $24,000 - $14,000 past its goal.
