Milwaukee Police said Thursday that 26-year old Jordan Fricke has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Officer Matthew Rittner.

Online court records for Fricke show a first offense OWI, several traffic citations and a ticket for underage possession of alcohol.

But Milwaukee Ald. Tony Zielinski, who represents the area where Wednesday's shooting occurred, said he was surprised the suspect had no violent, criminal past.

"To me, someone who would do something so hideous as this would be someone with a violent history," Zielinski said.

He added he hadn't received any calls or complaints from constituents about Fricke or the home where he'd been living near 12th & Manitoba.

"The police told me the problem was just pertaining to this particular house," Zielinski said. "I didn't receive any calls about anything else going on in that general area."

Donald Chapman, who lives a couple doors down, remembered seeing Fricke around the neighborhood.

He said there was frequent activity in front of his house.

"There was something going on there," Chapman said. "You could see that when you'd have eight cars pull up here, in front, for a few moments and then all of a sudden drive off."

Chapman said the neighborhood is still in mourning.

"Nobody wants to see something like this happen in their neighborhood," Chapman said.

Milwaukee Public Schools confirmed Fricke attended Pulaski High School for several years, before graduating from Groppi High School in 2011.

Charges against Fricke are expected to be filed in the coming days, according to police.
