Suspect in custody after shooting at Milwaukee police

A 23-year-old man is in custody after firing shots at Milwaukee police officers.

Police were called to an active burglary near the intersection of 26th Street and Ruby Avenue around 10:25 p.m. on Thursday.

When officers arrived, they encountered the man who was armed with a handgun. The man shot at police and then fled the scene. Officers were able to arrest him after a brief foot chase.

No officers were injured.  The man has an arrest record with Milwaukee Police. 

Police continue to investigate the situation. The case will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office in the coming days.
