Some parents kept their kids home from school Friday, after rumored threats circulated online about Oak Creek High School.

"I saw a plethora of kids and parents picking up their kids and kids just leaving the school," said Deanna Davis, parent.

Despite the alleged threats, Deanna sent her freshman to school.

"I kind of called their bluff. I wanted to trust the school and the police and I felt like I was comfortable sending her," she said.

The principal sent an email to parents Wednesday letting them know a fight during lunch Monday moved to the parking lot across the street, where three students were arrested.

"This altercation was a result of students making insensitive, racial comments and epitaphs," the email said.

"There's always fights in school, there's always going to be fights in school, but everybody has to outdo somebody else," said Phillip Davis.

The school told parents, "We are aware of a variety of rumors and social media activity stemming from this incident.  We take all information related to potential violence very seriously and we have been monitoring the social media postings."

The superintendent said the posts have to do with multiple racial groups saying they have guns.

"Knives coming to school and kids that are going to actively shoot up the school, that there's a hot list that's going around," Deanna said.

Thursday the school assures parents, "There has not been any credibility to the rumors that have surfaced over the last few days."

"I don't want to send her and then have something happen and then regret it for the rest of my life," Deanna said.

The Davis' let their daughter decide, who did choose to go to school Friday.

"I hope that we did a good enough job raising them where they can make the right decisions," said Phillip.

Police and school leaders felt it was safe to have school. The email sent to parents Friday said, "Once again, it was a calm and productive day of learning at Oak Creek High School."
