State Patrol hiring troopers starting at $21 per hour

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced that the Wisconsin State Patrol is recruiting troopers and inspectors for its 64th Recruit Class.

The application closes March 25 and can be found HERE. After being accepted, candidates must complete a 26-week training program which begins September 16.

Training will take place in Fort McCoy at the State Patrol Academy. During training meals, lodging, and a salary will be provided.The Recruit Class will be expected to train from Sunday night through Friday.

Pay during training is $21 per hour. Once graduated from the academy, pay increases to $22 per hour.

The State Patrol is looking to train for the following positions:

  • Commercial motor vehicle inspector
  • Crash reconstruction expert
  • Airplane pilot
  • Traffic
  • K-9
  • Motorcycle officer

Candidates will have to participate in a physical readiness test, background investigation, interviews, medical exam, and psychological testing.
