Glendale's coveted Sprecher Brewery plans to give away nearly 5,000 root beer floats on Aug. 6, the brewery announced this week.
The Great Sprecher Root Beer Floatilla begins at noon and ends at 8 p.m. to celebrate National Root Beer Float Day.
The Glendale brewery plans to give away as many as 50,000 free root beer floats.
Crowds are asked to enter the brewery drive-through style to try their root beers with a scoop of Cedar Crest ice cream.
Organizers planned the event as a way to bring the community together safely after several summer festivals were canceled amid COVID-19 concerns.
