South Milwaukee mother, boyfriend charged in connection to death of 4-year-old

SOUTH MILWAUKEE — A South Milwaukee mother and her boyfriend have been charged in connection to the death of a 4-year-old on Friday.

South Milwaukee police said that Christina Collado and Jerome Millen were charged in connection to the death of a 4-year-old child who died at the scene of the incident.

According to a criminal complaint, the 4-year-old child had bruising all over and several suspected bite marks. The manner of death for the child was listed as homicide.

The child's mother, Collado, told police that she put the child down to sleep on Thursday, Feb. 27, but when her boyfriend, Millen, woke up Friday, the child was unresponsive. Witnesses in the home told police that the child was abused often and had been covered in bruises. Witnesses also told police that they had heard and seen the abuse happen in the home.

When confronted with the allegations, Collado admitted that Millen had abused the child in the past. She also admitted to police that if she had properly protected the child, the child would still be alive.

When Millen was questioned by South Milwaukee detectives, he admitted to hitting the child, covering the child's mouth and holding a pillow over the child's face in the past.

Collado was charged with chronic neglect of a child - consequence death. Millen was charged with physical abuse of a child, repeated acts causing death.
