The solar eclipse was a rare and spectacular event that drew dozens of people to the American Science and Surplus Center on the south side of Milwaukee.

Everyone at the event said the eclipse was beautiful and the clouds couldn’t stop a fun time for families.

It created an iconic image, lots of people could see the moon passing directly in front of the sun. The watch party was right in the parking lot.

“It’s just a cool event,” said one attendee.

With many eyes to the sky, some had their special solar eclipse glasses, others were getting a different perspective. TODAY'S TMJ 4 came across plenty homemade devices, telescopes, and even welding masks. Veronica Riebe has been waiting on this for weeks.

“This is very beautiful. It was very much worth it, very much worth it, I wouldn’t have missed this, making a memory, making a memory,” Riebe said.

A chance to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience. The cool thing about Monday was that many people shared glasses as American Science & Surplus were sold out of glasses.
