The company that owns the Six Flags says it is preparing to reopen all of its theme parks and waterparks for the 2021 season - including the nearest location to us, Six Flags Great America, located in Chicagoland.

The reopening will be accompanied by a massive hiring effort on the part of Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. They say they are planning on hiring thousands of workers for this year, a process that will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Six Flags in Chicagoland is set to reopen to the public on April 24, with the Hurricane Harbor waterpark on May 29.

The company says it has prepared an extensive safety plan to keep guests safe, developed with epidemiologists, that "meets or exceeds" federal, state, and local guidelines.
