Shots fired, woman held against will in New Berlin home

NEW BERLIN -- Shots were fired and a woman was held against her will in a New Berlin home Sunday morning.

New Berlin police were called at 12:49 a.m. to a residence near 132nd Street and National Avenue.

Police said a man came home drunk and got into an argument with his wife. The man proceeded to grab a shotgun and go out on his patio where he shot several rounds into the air. He would not let the woman leave the residence.

When officers arrived, the woman was able to run from the home.

Officials said man also ran from the home and threw the shotgun somewhere outside the home. He was later located and arrested.

New Berlin police said this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
