SHOREWOOD — In response to the horrible tragedy involving the murder of a 21-year-old college student in South Carolina, the Shorewood Police Department has released a list of Uber/Lyft safety tips:
- Request your ride from inside your location. Avoid waiting outside for your ride.
- Make sure the vehicle matches with the one on your app. Color, license plate, model, etc.
- Don't ride in the front seat if you are a solo rider.
- Ride with others, if possible. Try not to take a ride alone.
- Share your trip with the "share status" in the app. This way, a friend or relative can track your location and see your ETA.
- Don't reveal personal details with your driver.
- Rate your driver and be sure to provide feedback, especially if there was inappropriate conduct.
