Senator Tammy Baldwin to deliver George Washington's farewell address on the Senate floor

WASHINGTON D.C. — U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin is set to deliver George Washington's farewell address on the Senate floor Monday.

The senator, who is the first Wisconsin senator and 9th woman to deliver the speech, will begin her reading at 2 p.m.

Every year since 1896, the U.S. Senate has observed Washington's birthday by selecting one member to deliver the speech. The senate alternates parties every year and this year, democratic Senator Baldwin was selected.
