MENOMONEE FALLS — Kohl's has laid off 15 percent of its corporate staffing amid the strain of the coronavirus pandemic and as consumers increasingly rely on online shopping for their retail needs.

TMJ4 news partner the Milwaukee Business Journal cites a Kohl's spokesperson, who declined to say how many corporate employees have lost their jobs.

MBJ reports the lay-offs occurred at Kohl's offices in the Milwaukee area, New York City and California.

Jen Johnson, the senior vice president of communications at Kohl’s, tells MBJ that the Menomonee Falls-based retailer's balance sheet and cash position "remain strong" during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kohl's already furloughed 85,000 of its employees when the pandemic first began, as well as closed all of its locations. Kohl's stores have since reopened.
