WEST ALLIS — A thrift store in West Allis is picking up the pieces after a reckless driver crashed through the store’s front door. It happened overnight near Highway 100 and Oklahoma.
“A few feet either way and it could have been a very different result for that individual who was able to walk away,” said Kyle Hanson, the director of finance for the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee.
Police responded just after midnight. They said two cars were racing, and the plywood that hangs where a door once was is the result of reckless driving and speeding.
An 18-year-old woman lost control of the car she was driving before crashing. The other driver was a 19-year-old woman.
“We all make choices in life, and we just hope that folks are going to make good choices and be safe,” Hanson said.
The 3 in 1 Thrift store is a part of the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee, which works to financially support three Lutheran high schools.
All proceeds from the store support the schools.
