Racine motorcyclist arrested for 3rd OWI after crashing into pickup truck

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. – A Racine man is being held at the Racine County Jail for multiple charges -- including OWI 3rd Offense -- after he crashed his motorcycle into the back of the pickup truck Tuesday afternoon.
 
The crash happened at 2:16 p.m. at the intersection of Racine Street and 25th Street in Mount Pleasant.
 
According to police, the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Racine Street behind the pickup truck. The truck slowed in order to make a right turn onto 25th St. and was struck in the rear bumper by the motorcycle. The man and his female passenger were ejected from the bike. Neither were wearing a helmet. 
The passenger sustained serious injuries, and was air lifted by Flight for Life to Froedert Hospital.
 
The driver was transported to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for non life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released and was transported to the Racine County Jail where he is being held on the following charges: Operating While Intoxicated (3rd Offense) Causing Injury, Inattentive Driving, and Violation of License Restriction.
 
The Technical Reconstruction Unit from the Wisconsin State Patrol was called to the scene and assisted with the crash investigation.
