RACINE -- A jury has found a Racine man accused of fatally shooting his friend guilty of first-degree intentional homicide.

Twenty-eight-year-old Jacob Rogers was also found guilty Thursday of possession of a firearm by a felon. He was accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old Andrew Jones of Kenosha in March.

A criminal complaint says a dispute over money motivated Rogers to shoot Jones. Racine County District Attorney Rich Chiapete told jurors in closing arguments that Jones was executed in cold blood.

The defense argued Rogers should be convicted of a lesser charge, second-degree intentional homicide. Defense attorney Adrienne Moore said earlier in the trial that Rogers "snapped and killed his friend," and that the money was to be used so Rogers could go to Chicago to fight to get custody of his newborn daughter.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 15.
