The man who was tackled by police after opening a suspicious package downtown apparently did not own the bag, Milwaukee Police said.
According to police, the man was arrested for resisting or obstructing an officer and disorderly conduct.
Police were investigating a suspicious package near the 100 block of Wisconsin Avenue shortly before 7 a.m. Monday.
The Milwaukee police bomb squad was responding to the suspicious package before a bystander on a bike burst into the scene and tore the bag open.
The man reportedly told another bystander he was going to “defuse this situation.”
