KENOSHA -- A Kenosha man wanted in connection with the Friday morning assault and abduction of a woman is back in police custody.
Police say Tyrone Shorter was arrested by Arkansas State Police in Mississippi County Arkansas at around 7:30 p.m. Friday. He was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop, according to police.
Police were called to a home in the 1600 block of Birch Road around 4:30 a.m. Friday after receiving a 911 call from a child that Shorter was assaulting the woman, the mother of two of his children.
What happened frightened the children so much that police say they ran to get help.
“I don’t know if they were awakened by some commotion in the apartment but they knew enough that they had to get out of the apartment," Kenosha police Lt. Hetlet said.
Authorities said surveillance video from the apartment complex showed Shorter forcefully removing the victim from the apartment with visible injuries to her face.
Kenosha police located the victim a few hours later, but Shorter was on the run.
Shorter is being held on charges of kidnapping, reckless endangerment, intimidation of victim and substantial battery.
Police said Shorter lives in the Fox Valley region, close to where the woman was found following the abduction. She was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
