MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police are searching for a homicide suspect who fatally shot an armed individual but the man they want remains at large.
Police Chief Alfonso Morales says officers dressed in plainclothes were watching a house where Victor Cintron, the suspect, may have been hiding Tuesday morning. That's when officers were approached by two people, including one who was armed. Police opened fire and killed the person who was armed. The person's name and gender weren't released.
The second man ran away but was taken into custody after a foot pursuit.
Morales says the officers believed they were going to be robbed as the men approached them, but authorities did not know if there was a robbery attempt.
Police say Cintron is suspected of a homicide that happened Friday.
Morales said three officers were there during the shooting. No officers were hurt.
No one involved in Tuesday's shooting has been identified.
Waukesha Police Department is leading the investigation as part of the Milwaukee Area Investigative Team.
Morales says "the situation is still fluid."
