MILWAUKEE — Milwaukee police say a bicyclist was marching with protesters Thursday evening when a car tried to get around the demonstrators and hit the bicyclist, causing minor injuries.
According to MPD, the bicyclist was traveling on the wrong side of the road in the 300 block of West State Street just after 5 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle was trying to leave the area when the bicyclist apparently impeded the driver's way.
The driver stopped, and then tried to go around the protester when the vehicle struck the protester, causing the person to fall to the ground.
The driver then fled as protesters began to gather around.
The bicyclist, a 50-year-old woman from Milwaukee, suffered minor injuries and refused medical treatment, according to MPD.
The driver was later located. A preliminary investigation from MPD shows this incident was accidental. Neither party was cited.
