Student shot near Racine golf course

RACINE — Park High School was temporarily placed on lockdown after a 16-year-old student was shot at a nearby golf course.

The Racine Police Department says shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, they responded to the 2300 block of 12th Street after a male victim was shot in the leg. He was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

Park High School was temporarily placed on lockdown, and police believe the incident did not occur on school property.

The Racine Unified School District tells us there was an incident near the golf course, which is down the road from Park High School. Students and staff were safe inside the school while the school was on lockdown.

The name of the victim is not being released at this time. There are no suspects in custody at the time. The investigation by the Racine Police Department is ongoing.
