The Milwaukee Fire Department told TODAY’S TMJ4 a student was struck by a car near UWM’s campus.
MFD said the call came in around 3 p.m. at the intersection of Kenwood and Maryland by the UWM Union.
UWM Police Chief Joseph LeMire says preliminary information shows a car ran a red light and hit another car. It continued after the crash and then hit the student in the crosswalk.
Police are investigating if a medical event caused the accident. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been involved.
The pedestrian victim and the driver of the car that ran the red light were hospitalized. The driver of the car that was hit sustained minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital. All three are UWM students.
None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
