KEWASKUM — The man behind a bizarre Halloween prank might have misheard the old proverb. It is not, "a bird in the hand is worth two Busch Lights." The Washington County jokester sent some birds flying inside The Alibi bar in Kewaskum.

For the people in The Alibi it was like something out of a movie, a nearly empty bar late on Halloween night when the bartender hears some rattling at the door. The bar surveillance video shows the aviary enthusiast amble in.

"In walked legs and a huge birdhouse," said bartender Lori Howe.

Then he performed his Halloween trick!

"They don't say anything they just stand there and start releasing. They released one bird. Didn't say anything. And then released the other one," said Howe.

Howe said she later realized the man behind it was a regular who likes to pulls pranks. But she is terrified of birds. So it was little more Hitchcock then hi-jinx, at first.

"I was way too scared to do anything. We were kind of screaming," said Howe.

She eventually called the Washington County Sheriff's Office for help.

"The police man grabbed a jacket and was trying to corral the birds. But we ended getting the bird to the other side of the bar through the flaps in the door," said Howe.

She said another patron then got them out the door. Back into the Halloween night where came from. Hopefully to return, nevermore!

"It was definitely fun. I am probably going to remember this for a long time," said Howe.

None of the birds were hurt. They were all set free. The bar owners said the prankster is welcome back.
