MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine why a paraglider landed in a freezing pond in southern Wisconsin.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office says the paraglider inadvertantly landed in a remote pond in a rural area in the Town of Oregon on Friday evening.
The sheriff's office says the pond was partially frozen. The paraglider was able to free himself from his machine but couldn't reach land. A local resident called 911. Firefighters saved the pilot by wading out into the pond in rescue suits.
The sherrif's office says the cause of the incident has yet to be determined.
