MADISON (AP) — The chairman of the Oneida Nation is preparing to deliver the 15th annual State of the Tribes address to the Wisconsin Legislature.

Tehassi Hill will take the podium in the Assembly chamber at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The address began in 2005. Each year the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council selects a member to give the speech.

State constitutional officers, state Supreme Court justices and legislators from the Assembly and Senate are invited to attend.

Hill said in his 2017 inaugural address that one of his foremost concerns is opioid abuse. He promised to address “this darkness that is upon us” but did not elaborate.
