Officer hurt in Kenosha shooting identified

The officer shot during an investigation into an entry to vehicle complaint in Kenosha last week has been identified.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice said Kenosha Police Officer Justin Pruett, was investigating an entry to a vehicle complaint in the 4600 block of Sheridan Road on Aug. 8. The DOJ said the suspect, Jonathan Massey, 29, shot at Pruett. Pruett shot back and Massey fled the scene.

Massey was arrested in Gary, Indiana on Aug. 11. Massey was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was taken to a Gary hospital and released, where he is currently waiting in jail, awaiting extradition.

Pruett was shot in the abdomen and has since been released from the hospital.

Massey is facing attempted first-degree intentional homicide charges.
