October home sales up 6.2% in Milwaukee metro area

Posted

MILWAUKEE -- Home sales were up 6.2% in October in the Metropolitan Milwaukee market, The Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors said Monday, after rebounding from a 1.1% decline in September.

The group says this is surprising because the market has lacked enough homes in the “sweet spot”  of a price under $300,000 for most of the year.

However, in October, 76% of the homes sold were under $300,000, due to an increase in listings in three of the four metropolitan counties.

October was the seventh time sales were up in 2017, and the 27th positive month since January of 2015, when the real estate market really emerged from the recession.

Through October, the four-county market  (Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Washington, Waukesha) is 1.3% ahead of sales in 2016.  So far, there have been 17,862 home sales in this area. In 2016, there were in 17,641 unit sales in 2016.
