Amid the ongoing coin shortage, North Shore Bank said it was extending its coin counting and exchange program through the end of August.

The bank's program was originally going to expire on July 31, but due to the ongoing shortage, it is extending it.

The program offers free coin counting and exchange for those who turn in coins.

The bank hopes to increase local supply of coins.
