No charges will be issued for the death of Bruce Young, who died in December during a chase involving law enforcement on Milwaukee’s south side.

Local and federal officers were conducting a joint investigation of Young, who was believed to be stockpiling explosives and weapons. As they made contact, they say he took off running.

A driver’s dash-cam video shows Young crossing the intersection at 34th Street and Greenfield Avenue when he’s struck by a van driven by ATF agents.

But investigators say that’s not how he died. According to the new reports and video, Young was armed with a gun.

After he was stuck by the van, the DOJ says Young shot himself in the head.

The bomb squad was called because officers on scene believed Young may have been wearing an explosive device.

He was not, but they did detonate a bag of weapons and explosive items Young had been carrying.

A search of Young’s Germantown storage locker also yielded explosives.

The attorney for Young’s family had said the family did not believe Young shot himself, and hoped someone would be held accountable.
