NEW BERLIN -- Parents with students at New Berlin West High School are looking for answers.

"We received text messages from the school informing us that there was some adjustments to the staff and that there's some kind of investigation going on," explained Mary French, parent.

New Berlin Police are investigating the possibility of sexual contact between a 28-year-old female teacher and a male student off campus.

"It's sad that people who are entrusted to show children how to be professional aren't being professional themselves."

The School District of New Berlin placed the teacher on unpaid leave.  School Superintendent Joe Garza said in a statement," We take our students' safety and welfare seriously, and we appreciate our families' and community's patience as we continue to work with the police department through the investigation process."

"Administrative leave and investigation is something I take seriously as long as school has done that and they keep us informed going forward that's what I would like to see," said Sunil Aghi, parent.

Parents aren't jumping to conclusions.

"We live in a society where we become too paranoid about security and safety."

As they wait, parents can only hope the allegations are a misunderstanding.

"There's boundaries and it's kind of sad that they've been crossed so many times over the last 10 years or so.  It just seems like it's becoming more commonplace. It's sad," said French.
