WAUWATOSA — As the snow slowed down across the TMJ4 viewing area, many people came out to clean up their sidewalks and driveways.

TMJ4 News crews witnessed neighbors helping one another after heavy snowfall in Wauwatosa.

Nicholas Olson, a UW-Milwaukee student, helped his older neighbor, George Martinek, shovel his driveway.

“He always helps me out. Whenever I need anything, I just knock on his window,” Martinek said.

A knock on a window meant a quick job for a college student paying his way through school.

“He’s helping me out with a little money. I’m helping him out with a little work,” Olson said.

As the sun peeked through the clouds, many others saw the window of opportunity to clean up at their properties.

"This is my lunch hour so I found an opportunity to shovel and plow,” said Arleen Lemon.

In Wauwatosa, a snow emergency is in effect until seven tomorrow morning. That means no on-street parking in 'Tosa until 7 a.m. Wednesday.
