Neighbors frustrated by stolen security system signs

An ironic crime has created a hassle for Milwaukee families.

Several neighbors living hear 60th and Capitol have caught security camera video of thieves walking away with their security system warning signs.

Two videos shared with TODAY'S TMJ4 show people walking up to homes, other security signs in hand, plucking security signs out of front yards.

Patricia Zeyen didn't realize her ADT sign was stolen until neighbors started posting on social media about their signs. She pulled up her security camera footage.

"She came up between the houses and grabbed mine," said Zeyen. "I just thought, 'why?"

Some neighbors suggest the signs have resale value.

"People might want to just have the sign instead of having the service so there might be people willing to pay," Zeyen said.

But, she and her neighbors pay hundreds of dollars each year for their protection, which includes the sign warning people they'll sound an alarm if they trespass.

Zeyen has ordered another sign, but says for the time being it looks like she doesn't have a security system- a protection which makes her feel safer in her home.

She did notify police, as did another neighbor, who filed a report.
