MILWAUKEE — Another Milwaukee business has decided to close its doors during the pandemic.

Doc's Smokehouse, based in Milwaukee but owning locations also in Madison, Mokena, Illinois and Dyer, Indiana, announced Friday that it is temporarily closing all locations as it struggles to serve customers in a "manner that is safe for both our guests and our staff."

Brent Brashier noted that state-mandated closures and limits as well as "vague and conflicting safety information" from health departments and the CDC led them to the difficult decision.

The last day of operations is Oct. 18, the owners say.

"While it is heartbreaking to close the business that we have poured our heart and soul into, I know that by closing now we will be able to return better than ever... this is temporary. WE WILL BE BACK," Brashier wrote in the post.
